2018年11月5日，习近平总书记在首届中国国际进口博览会开幕式上宣布，支持长江三角洲区域一体化发展并上升为国家战略。同时，长三角也是长江经济带和“一带一路”建设国家战略的空间交汇地，区域经济发展面临着多重国家战略叠加这一前所未有的发展机遇，上海财经大学也站在了新时代的新起点上。
厚德博学，经济匡时，上海财经大学长三角与长江经济带发展研究院将始终把学术研究与服务党和政府决策、促进经济社会发展紧密结合，围绕推动区域一体化和协调发展的重大问题开展前瞻性的研究，为长三角一体化发展与长江经济带发展国家战略提供科学支撑。研究院将立足中国问题、借鉴国际视野，打造具有重大影响力的决策咨询研究高地与城市群理论研究重镇，努力发展成为上海市、全国乃至在全球有影响力的“城市群与区域发展”领域的思想库、学科高地和重要的新型智库平台，把课题与论文写在中国大地上。

On November 5th, 2018, at the opening ceremony of the first China International Import Expo, General Secretary Xi Jinping announced that he would support the regional integration development of the Yangtze River Delta as a national strategy. At the same time, the Yangtze River Delta is the spatial convergence of the national strategy of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and 'One Belt, One Road'. The regional economic development faces an unprecedented development opportunity of multiple national strategic superpositions. Shanghai University of Finance and Economics also stands at a new starting point.
Cultivating morality and Extensive Learning to serve the development of the nation with economic knowledge. Institute for Yangtze River Delta and Yangtze River Economic Belt Development will always combine academic research with serving Party and government decision-making and promoting economic and social development, carry out forward-looking research around major issues of promoting regional integration and coordinated development, and provide scientific support for the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta and the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt. Based on China's problems and drawing lessons from international perspectives, the institute will build an influential decision-making consulting research highland and theoretical research center of urban agglomeration, and develop into a think tank, disciplinary highland and an important new think tank platform in the field of 'urban agglomeration and regional development' in Shanghai, China and even in the world. Projects and papers will be written on the land of China.
